Dining

Restaurant Zlatna Žita

A modern, family-friendly dining room for hearty Bosnian cooking, a wider European menu and the kind of coffee that keeps a table together after the plates are cleared.

The kitchen

Bosnian cooking, and a wider European table

A table with very different appetites at it rarely has to negotiate here.

Portions and service suit families and groups as much as couples. Children are welcome in the dining room, and the atmosphere stays relaxed rather than formal even at the busiest winter times, when the house is full and everyone comes down from their rooms at roughly the same hour.

Because menus change with the season and with what is available locally, the current selection is best confirmed with the restaurant during your stay. That seasonality is the point rather than an inconvenience: a winter menu in this part of Bosnia should not read like a summer one.

Bosnian specialties

The heart of the menu, and the food most visitors come to the region hoping to try. It is cooked the way it is meant to be cooked here rather than adapted for visitors, which is exactly why guests keep bringing it up when they describe the stay afterwards.

Italian and Mediterranean

A second thread through the menu for lighter appetites and for evenings when nobody wants a heavy plate. It also does the quiet work of keeping a mixed table happy, since not everyone at dinner arrives hungry from the same kind of day.

European classics and pizza

Familiar dishes, cooked properly, plus pizza that comes into its own with children at the table or after a long day when the decision needs to be easy. It is the part of the menu that removes negotiation from a family dinner.

Where the day is actually spent

Eating here is not confined to one room or one hour. Breakfast, the bar, the coffee house, the terrace and room service between them cover a whole day, from the plate before an early drive to the last cup of the evening.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the hotel and comes up often when guests describe their stay, which matters more than it sounds when the plan involves an early drive up the mountain. It is the meal that decides how the first hours of a ski day go, and it is treated that way.

For guests leaving before the slopes open, the early check-out window and breakfast overlap comfortably enough that nothing has to be skipped.

The bar and coffee house

There is a bar and a coffee house on site, and between them they absorb most of the day that is not spent outdoors. Guests come back cold, order something warm, and end up staying longer than they planned in a room that is built for exactly that.

In the evening the same space works as the natural place to sit after dinner without going out into the weather again.

The terrace

Outdoor seating on the terrace takes over as the dining room whenever the weather allows. In warmer months afternoons slow right down out there, with the garden beyond it and the mountains sitting in the background of every meal.

It is also the place most guests end up between one activity and the next, which gives the house its unhurried middle-of-the-day rhythm.

Upstairs

Room service, for the evenings that need it

Room service is available for guests who would rather stay upstairs after a long day outdoors or a late arrival. Some evenings the right answer is the dining room and a slow dinner; others it is a warm plate, a closed door and an early night before the mountain again in the morning.

It is worth remembering on arrival days in particular. A late drive through the region does not always leave anyone in the mood to come back down a flight of stairs, and this is the reason you do not have to.

Eat well, then sleep upstairs.

Rooms, apartments and current conditions are all arranged through the hotel’s booking page, and the restaurant sits a staircase away from every one of them. For questions about the menu, a large table or dietary requirements, the hotel is easiest reached by phone.
